3 Hip Replacement Recovery Mistakes I See All The Time (And What To Do Instead)

Hip replacement recovery usually goes well — but a few common mistakes can make it feel harder than it needs to. Here are three I see a lot, plus what to do instead.
Mistake #1: Doing too much on ‘good days’
It’s normal to feel better one day and want to catch up. The problem is the next day you pay for it with swelling and pain.
Do this instead: increase activity in small steps (think 10–15%), and keep the ‘little and often’ walks.
Mistake #2: Skipping the boring basics
The basics (walking, simple strength, swelling control) are what rebuild your foundation.
Do this instead: pick 2–3 key exercises and do them consistently.
Mistake #3: Waiting too long to fix a limp
A limp can become a habit if strength and walking mechanics aren’t addressed.
Do this instead: focus on glute strength, step length, and walking quality — early.
If you want a clear plan that tells you what to do week-by-week (and what to avoid), my Hip Replacement Recovery eGuide lays it out in plain English.
