Can You Play Sport With hEDS or Hypermobility?
Having hEDS or HSD does not automatically rule out sport. The appropriate level depends on the sport, symptoms, injury history and your ability to tolerate its demands.
Prepare for the demands
Running, jumping, cutting, throwing or contact each require different strength and control. Rehabilitation should prepare you for what your chosen sport actually involves.
Manage training load
Sudden large increases in sessions, intensity or competition can provoke symptoms even when individual exercises are tolerated well.
Make decisions individually
Recurrent significant dislocations, recent injury or medical restrictions may alter participation. Where needed, work with clinicians and coaches on sensible modifications.
A structured next step
