Why Do My Legs Feel Weak When I Walk?
Weak-feeling legs can make walking slower, shorter and less confident. Reduced strength is one cause, but pain, neurological problems, circulation and illness can also contribute.
Look at the pattern
Notice whether weakness appears after a certain distance, on hills, after illness or throughout the day and whether stairs or chair rises are also harder.
Build useful leg strength
Sit-to-stands, step-ups, calf raises and hip strengthening can be progressed according to ability. Walking alone may not provide enough resistance.
When to seek assessment
New one-sided weakness, sudden deterioration, severe pain, chest symptoms or neurological changes require medical assessment.
